MMA ODDS AND ENDS FOR WEDNESDAY: WONDERBOY VS. PETTIS, MILLENDER VS. DOS SANTOS BOOKED
Two or three exciting welterweight bouts were shown for upcoming March struggle cards, and I’ll give my initial thoughts on those brand new matchups in the current MMA odds and ends.
UFC Fight Night 146, curtis Millender vs. Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos Surging welterweights Curtis Millender and Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos will fulfill at UFC Fight Night 146, which takes place March 9 in Intrust Bank Arena in Wichita, Kansas. That the news was revealed by globo . This is a significant welterweight fight between two fighters on hot streaks which should bump the victor into the top-10 on the planet at 170lbs.
Millender (17-3) is a perfect 3-0 so far in the UFC, and he went 4-0 overall in 2018 for example his time in LFA. He began his UFC debut with a bang when he knocked out Thiago Alves, then followed it up with conclusion wins over Max Griffin and Siyar Bahadurzada. In general, Millender has won eight straight fights and many believe he has the potential be a potential champion as a consequence of his dimension for the welterweight divison and his elite striking technique. Dos Santos (20-5) has gone 6-1 in the UFC and has not lost within the Octagon because a split decision defeat Nicholas Dalby in his debut. His last two fights were amazing as he showed off his amazing knockout power with barbarous wins over Sean Strickland and Luigi Vendramini. He’s already broken into the top-15 rankings and could jump to the top-10 when he beats Millender. This is a battle on paper that I could see either guy. I honestly think it’s about as near as much of a fight as you can get, and I’m hoping a Select’em line at the sportsbooks.
Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson vs. Anthony Pettis, UFC Fight Night Nashville
Former UFC lightweight winner Anthony Pettis has opted to make the move up to welterweight, and he will make his debut in his new weight class against top competition Stephen”Wonderboy” Thompson in what is an intriguing conflict between elite strikers. The set will meet at a UFC Fight Night card which hasn’t yet been declared yet on March 23 in Nashville, Tennessee, according to a report from ESPN’s Ariel Helwani. The scribe reports that the bout has been agreed to, and the UFC should formally announce it . Thompson (14-3-1) is 9-3-1 at the UFC and in his last outing lost a very controversial decision to Darren Till. He is only 1-2-1 in his last four fights, but it is difficult to say he is on a decrease when two of these non-victories came against UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley, and his triumph over Jorge Masvidal revealed he’s still a top fighter at 170lbs. Pettis (21-8) is 8-7 overall at the UFC and in his final fight was TKOed by Tony Ferguson at a 2018″Fight of the Year” contender. All of Pettis’ previous spells came in featherweight and lightweight so this movement to welterweight is intriguing. Having said that, I don’t believe I could select Pettis here only based on all the damage he is taken as of late and also the reality Thompson is a natural welterweight. Look to start as a favorite here.
